Welcome to the first Connected Data London meetup of 2023! Doors will open at 6.00pm for talks starting at 18.30. This meetup focuses on how to get the most out of your enterprise knowledge graph, common challenges to be aware of, solutions and expected benefits & business cases.
The meetup will feature 3 x 30 minute talks. 3rd speaker to be confirmed imminently!
As usual refreshments and food will be available courtesy of our generous sponsors Beamery.
Kasper Piskorski - Lead Machine Learning Engineer / Access Intelligence Plc.
With increased availability of data as well as advancements in machine learning and natural language processing, knowledge graphs have become increasingly popular for extracting value out of data. Knowledge graph representation learning is a technique used to embed entities and relations of knowledge graphs into a low-dimensional vector space in a way that captures the semantics of the entities and relations. These embeddings can be used for downstream predictive tasks, enhancing search engines, recommendation systems, and customer experiences. Consequently, predictions based on knowledge graph data enable intelligent decision-making and provide a competitive advantage for companies across a variety of sectors.
With the ever-growing size of knowledge graphs and social networks, training knowledge graph embeddings can be a computationally demanding task, hindering their adoption in industrial applications. In this talk we will address some of the common scalability issues present during knowledge graph embedding training as well as present a range of available techniques and tooling that leverage distributed computing, parallel processing, and sampling.
Martynas Jusevičius - Lead Knowledge Engineer / Beamery
With the growing industry adoption of semantic Knowledge Graphs, presenting them to end users in a friendly is increasingly important. Unfortunately, state-of-the-art solutions in this field are expensive -- either as development costs of custom software, or as license costs of commercial off-the-shelf products. We demonstrate a PoC that simply generates a KG portal configuration from an OWL ontology, which then runs on the open-source LinkedDataHub KG application platform.
Madi Solomon - Head of Customer Solutions and Services, Graphifi
Communicating how Knowledge Graphs can solve business problems (in a way that CEOs can understand) continues to be a challenge. In a world where businesses have finally learned to distinguish a taxonomy from taxidermy (which is a huge evolutionary step) they are still very far from being able to grasp the potential of why connected data and standards based Natural Language Processing is worth pursuing. In this talk, we will share some of the common business challenges and pitfalls encountered, provide some approaches in articulating the WHY of Knowledge Graphs, and the first steps to get started that anyone can understand.
