The Future of Graph Query Languages, Introduction to SKOS & graph Investigations

First meetup of 2019. We hosted 3 speakers with a range of topics from introductory to technical.

 

 

 

#SPEAKER 1# Gavin Mendel-Gleason, CTO DataChemist

 

 

Title: The Victors will be Declarative - Exploring the Graph Query Language of the Future

 

 

Talk Summary / Learning outcomes:

 

• Quick overview of query language and how we got here

• Highlighting some of the issues with current approaches to nosql query

• Why a simple, but flexible data model with mathematical precision and a query language to match is crucial to future success

About the Speaker: Gavin Mendel-Gleason is a doctor of computer science, specialising in type theory and formal methods. He has worked in industry in big-data modelling, search and query optimisation and in both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques. His passion is creating a synthesis of logical techniques for knowledge representation and reasoning with modern machine learning techniques to create the database of the future. Gavin is currently the Chief Technology Officer at DataChemist.

About the Speaker: Phil Stacey works for Barratt homes implementing document management in southern counties division. With over 25 years in the construction industry working in design and information management he is passionate in realising the business benefit structured data and BIM can deliver through its implementation at scale, across the housing sector.

About the Speaker: Wais Bashir plans and holds seminars and workshops on open source due diligence and asset tracing to private companies and organisations. With over ten years experience in the news industry, he also delivers seminars to award-winning students and young media professionals from across Europe in locations around Europe, in open source news verification and investigation methodologies.
